Things to be grateful about surround you anywhere, anytime.

Following up on the Instagram detox post, I realised being out of touch from the online world makes me more receptive to the little blessings that I would normally take for granted and even complain about. Here, I'm listing down a bunch of gratitude epiphanies I've discovered day 2 into my social media detox:

  • Grateful my family and I are able to afford a meal out without ever stressing about money and how much food/drinks costs and can order freely.
  • Grateful my family and I have a car to transport us around for rainy days.
  • Grateful that I could go to bed every night safely without fear at the back of my head if I'm going to wake up tomorrow.
  • Grateful that I don't have to worry about access to water to shower, wash my hands, and most essentially, drink.
  • Grateful that I have a roof over my head to shield me from natural disasters or other potential harm. (The 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Tokyo recently has really put into perspective for me how much we take the absence of natural disasters for granted, and that we're all really at the mercy of Mother Nature and her strikebacks against our pollution).
  • Grateful that I have Spotify Premium so I don't have to listen to annoying ads every other song.
  • Grateful that I'm still on holiday while most of the office are back at work.
  • Grateful that I have this laptop to type this post right now (4 years and counting, and still going strong! I hope this laptop is my forever laptop :3).
  • Grateful I've discovered a new artist (INJI) and that her music makes my day brighter as I vibe to them.
  • Grateful that my family are financially stable and don't have to worry much about surviving every day. (In the past, I would've overlooked this fact and lament about why my family isn't rich enough to afford Hermes, Chanel etc... I realised that having enough money to pay bills, eat and drink comfortably is more than enough to be grateful for).
  • Grateful that I've made the realisation that my present has been what my past self has been manifesting for consciously and subconsciously. I just know that she would be so proud and happy of what she's made of future self.
  • Grateful that I got given the AirPods that I'm currently wearing for free as a gift, and am now able to vibe to music while I type this out.
  • Grateful for my tastebuds and how they allow me to relish my favourite dish and try new flavours if I wanted to.
  • Grateful that I'm still breathing and alive today, and the action of typing every letter right now (and subsequently publish this in a few more minutes) is something I should not take for granted.
