Post from Medium:
There are the 5 official love languages, yet love is so all-encompassing I find it a bit silly how it could be categorised and sorted into merely 5 different ways. The way I see it, there’s millions of smaller love languages that seem less obvious but is all the same as important. Just because it isn’t widely acknowledged doesn’t make it any less special.
This list I’ve accumulated is more for myself to discern the point in which my basic care for a fellow human being transgressed into something deeper. Everyone would have their own version of their unrecognised, silent ways in which they choose to love someone/something, but it’s all the same just as beautiful as love always is. I urge you to jot down a list too to find out about your tiny, unspoken love languages.
If you’ve ever interacted with me and experienced the following, please know that you have been loved by me in these myriad different ways, even if it did not appear to be obvious at the time:
- If I remembered your birthday at the top of my head and don’t rely on Facebook notifications to remind me.
- If I ever thought about you whenever I bake something, and anticipate the moment when I could share my feelings for you in the form of baked goods.
- If I ever messaged or told you that I’ve been crying (bonus if I sent you a crying selfie with my sarcastic thumbs up, and EXTRA bonus if you’ve ever seen me cry in front of you)
- If the thought of getting you a souvenir when I’m travelling overseas ever crossed my mind
- If I’ ever initiated a FaceTime/video call with you (I detest video calls)
- If I ever made a Spotify playlist about you/with you.
- If I ever initiated a hug with you (I’m not much of a hugger)
- If I’m ever in a fearful situation and I thought of you to call/text to help calm my nerves.
- If I ever drunk-text you that “I miss you” (more precisely, I missc youuughvuyyu)
- If I ever kept a memento from one of our memories together (e.g: a receipt, a piece of leaf from the park we hung out at, a seashell from a beach trip together).
- If you ever received a card, a love letter (essay-length) or a simple sticky note from me.
- If I ever asked for you to confirm through text that you’ve got back home safety after our hang out.
- If I think about what you would’ve been up to at a specific point of time, because it makes me happy to know your schedule to a T. (e.g: “oh it’s 5pm, they should be at the gym by now.”)
(The list goes on but if I continued, this read would be hours long)
